2026 Campership Program

Make life-long memories

Slide 1 of 1

Main page content

Every Scout Deserves the Camp Experience

Summer camp is often the most meaningful part of a Scout’s year - a place to build confidence, develop leadership skills, and create lifelong memories. The Campership Program exists to ensure that financial concerns never prevent a Scout from attending camp.

Through a combination of automatic and need-based camperships, Minsi Trails Council is committed to making Camp Minsi accessible to every Scout and family.

What Is a Campership?

A campership is financial assistance that helps reduce the cost of attending Camp Minsi. At Minsi Trails Council, every eligible Scout automatically receives a built-in campership benefit, and additional need-based camperships are available by application.

General Trexler Campership

Automatic for All Minsi Trails Council Scouts

Every youth Scout registered in Minsi Trails Council who attends Camp Minsi receives the General Trexler Campership.

There is no application required.

How it works:

  • All Minsi Trails Council youth Scouts qualify
  • $75 per Scout is applied
  • The campership is automatically deducted from the Camp Minsi registration fee
  • Applies to Camp Minsi programs only
  • No income qualification or application paperwork required

This automatic campership ensures that every Minsi Trails Scout begins camp registration with built-in financial support.

What You Need to Do

Nothing - It’s Automatic

Units and families do not need to request or apply for the General Trexler Campership.

When a Minsi Trails Council Scout registers for Camp Minsi:

  • The $75 youth campership is applied
  • The reduced fee is reflected during registration
  • The campership is credited directly toward camp costs

Application-Based Campership FAQs

Youth currently registered in a Scouting America scouting unit of Minsi Trails Council and will be participating in a Minsi Trails Council operated Summer Camp Program.

No. Camperships are awarded based on available funding and demonstrated need.

The amount the Minsi Trails Cub Scout Resident/Day camp and Scouts, BSA resident camp camperships awarded will be based on financial need, as well as the amount of funding available to be awarded.

It is expected that the Scouts receiving the camperships will make an attempt to pay part of their own way with participation in fund raisers at the unit and Council level. The Scout may also save money towards camp costs by earning his/her own money.

Due to limited funds available, it would be best to apply for one campership in particular.

All applications should be mailed to the Minsi Trails Council Service Center.  Please ensure enough time for delivery prior to the application deadline:

Minsi Trails Council
Attn. 2026 Campership Committee
991 Postal Rd
Allentown, PA 18109

Youth and their families looking to apply for a Campership should download and complete the application.  Please follow all instructions.  Incomplete or illegible forms may not be considered.

Camp fees should not be submitted with the campership application.  Campership awards are not guaranteed and are based on funds available.

When calculating the Campership request, the most discounted camp fee should be used. For example, the fee used for the calculation should be after any early registration discounts.  Ask your unit leader what fee you qualified for as a unit or if you have met the March 1 deposit deadline.

The unit leader will be notified mid May in writing whom with in the troop were awarded Camperships.  This allows the unit leader to coordinate with the Scout family any balances that are due prior to June 1 submittal (date for all payments).

Those attending summer resident camp and summer day camp will be notified through their unit leader (important to have the correct info on the application), as well as a letter sent to the family.  Information will be shared how we apply the credit(s) to the unit online roster of youth attending summer camp.  Those who will be attending summer day camp will receive on the final bill.

Camperships are applied directly toward camp fees. Funds are not issued directly to families.

Youth are asked to write a thank you note/letter to the Campership Committee.  These letters may also be shared anonymously with council leadership, those who support the Campership program through donations and support, and others who may deemed necessary.

Due to limited funding, not all requests can be fully funded.

Camp fees should not be submitted with the campership application.  Campership awards are not guaranteed and are based on funds available.

Funds for camperships are raised through generous donors, as well as through the sale of the annual campership shoulder patch.  These patches are available at the front counter of the Minsi Trails Council Office.  If you would like to make a contribution to the Campership program, you may submit it to the Minsi Trails council and indicate that it is designated for camperships.

Next Steps

  1. Register your Scout for Camp Minsi
Complete your Scout’s registration for Camp Minsi through the normal registration process.
  2. Automatic campership applied
The $75 General Trexler Campership will be automatically applied to eligible Minsi Trails Council youth Scouts. No action is required.
  3. Review additional campership options if needed
If your family needs additional financial assistance, review the available application-based camperships and confirm eligibility.
  4. Submit applications by the deadline
Complete and submit any required campership applications by the stated deadline. Funding is limited and awarded based on eligibility and availability.

If you are unsure which camperships apply to your Scout or need help with the process, the council office is happy to assist. Most families will not need to take any additional action beyond registering for camp.

How Camperships Work Together

  • The General Trexler Campership is applied automatically first
  • Additional camperships may further reduce camp costs
  • All campership funds are applied directly to camp fees
  • Units and families are encouraged to contribute whenever possible

This layered approach helps ensure the broadest possible access to camp.

Why Camperships Matter

Camperships help ensure that:

  • Financial barriers do not prevent Scouts from attending camp
  • Units can plan camp attendance more confidently
  • Scouts from all backgrounds can experience leadership, growth, and adventure

The General Trexler Campership reflects the council’s commitment to making the Camp Minsi experience accessible to every Scout.

Supporting the Campership Program

Camperships exist because of the generosity of donors who believe in the value of the Scouting camp experience.

You can help by:

  • Donating to the Campership Fund
  • Supporting council fundraising efforts
  • Encouraging unit-level camp savings and fundraising
