Camp Minsi is entering an exciting new chapter. Following a comprehensive planning effort, several major infrastructure and program improvements are underway to support year-round use, enhance the camper experience, and prepare the camp for future generations.
The long-term development plan was approved by the Council Executive Board in January 2025.
Planning for the Future
During 2023–2024, Minsi Trails Council conducted a comprehensive site planning project to guide the long-term future of Camp Minsi. The process examined camp layout, infrastructure needs, year-round program capacity, and future growth opportunities.
Input was gathered from camp staff, camp attendees, and the broader Minsi Trail community. The resulting long-term plan was approved in January 2025.
Recent Camp Improvements (Completed in 2025)
During 2025, several facility improvement projects were completed as part of ongoing efforts to strengthen Camp Minsi’s infrastructure and enhance key program and support areas. These projects reflect continued investment in maintaining camp facilities and improving the experience for Scouts, leaders, and visitors.
Completed 2025 improvements include replacement of the first bridge, renovations to the Camp Master Building and Health Lodge, and construction of a new pavilion at Scoutcraft.
Weygadt Trust First Bridge
Our new bridge was completed and dedicated in May 2025. The two culvert style bridge provides an entrance to camp built to last for decades! A dedicated pedestrian lane provides safe walkway for both hikers and fishermen. This structure was completed largely with funds from the Weygadt Trust.
Machin Lodge
Work was completed and the lodge was dedicated in May 2025. This building near the entrance to camp provides staff housing for summer camp and serves as our Camp Master residence and check-in station for year-round camp use.
Health Lodge Upgrade
Funded by a generous donation, the Camp Minsi Health Lodge was refurbished and upgraded in time for the summer camp season. The project included updates throughout the building and a new front porch pavilion. This new renovation was made possible through a donation by East Allen Township Volunteer Ambulance Corps.
Scoutcraft Pavilion
A much-needed large pavilion with new picnic tables was added to our Scoutcraft area prior to camp in 2025. This new structure will support the popular scoutcraft merit badge program. This new addition was made possible through a donation by the Troop 43 Foundation.
2025 Program Updates
In addition to infrastructure improvements, several program updates were introduced during the 2025 camp season.
In 2025, Camp Minsi added two new and very popular summer camp programs: Metalwork and Blacksmithing. These hands-on offerings expanded program variety and provided Scouts with new skill-building opportunities.
Water System Upgrade
Work is underway to provide year-round water access in central camp. This infrastructure upgrade will support future camp development and improve access for year-round activities at Camp Minsi.
Campsite Pavilions
Funding has been approved to add permanent pavilions to most existing campsites. These structures will improve weather protection and campsite usability, with the goal of completion prior to the 2026 summer camp season.
Cub Scout Target and Range Activities
A new area is being developed to support Cub Scout range and target activities, including BB guns, archery, and slingshot. Located near the main parking lot, this facility will support one of the most popular Cub Scout program areas during summer camp and year-round events.
The new area is expected to be ready for the start of the 2026 summer camp season.
Camp Maintenance Projects
Several key maintenance projects have been identified to support camp facilities. These include replacement of the roofs on the Trading Post and Wilcox Lodge with new metal roofs, scheduled for early 2026.
Funding has also been approved for road maintenance and improvements throughout the camp, with work beginning in early spring 2026.
Frontier Town Returns
A new and improved Frontier Town program area will return in 2026. Planned activities include a gold sluice, ducky races, slingshot activities, and additional hands-on experiences designed to engage Scouts of all ages.
